Thanks to everyone who came over last night. Kate had a good time and was glad to meet people. She wondered why we kept denying that Sam was dreunk. I learned a lesson: day old sangria is not very tasty.After taking Kate to Union Station I was walking along Queen street and passed a man who looked like a member of the Rolling Stones, by which I mean he looked like a bony geriatric rocker, complete with wide open shirt, gaudy gold crucifix medallion, handle bar mustache and Keith Richards-esque swagger. Hanging from his shoulder was a large white boom box which was blaming "Apache" the song popularized by the Sugarhill Gang and Sir Mix-a-lot.
I stopped in at HMV and saw that they offered a 2 disc special edition of V for Vendetta for $28.99 OR you could buy the 2 disc set packaged with....Constantine for THE SAME PRICE! They must have overestimated demand for Constantine and are now desperate to get rid of it.
Now for extreme amounts of veiwing pleasure check out this AMAZING music video from the band OK Go. Also, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs asked fans to sumbit video of their best lipsynch impression of the band's song Cheated Hearts, the result is very enjoyable. There are some excellent Karen O impersonations.

So Happy Together
My sister and I went on our much-anticipated tandem bike ride yesterday. It was a little tricky to get the hang of, but this was quickly overshadowed by the fact that it was unbelievably awesome. We kind of got lost on these poorly-marked trails and ended up riding for four hours. There was a beautiful trail back up the coast, and of course everything is more cool on a tandem bike.My sister's wedding was last night and the MC was from Alaska Professional Entertainment, or APE; it was amusing because their website is www.gowithape.com. I haven't seen one of my sisters for almost two years (she lives in Seattle) and when the three of us are together we regress into a child-like state in which we are convinced that our time is best spent running around making loud noises, head-butting one another, and generally creating a spectacle of ourselves. By the end of the night we had got everyone there to spontaneously make hilarious chicken noises.
My new brother-in-law Chris has an enormous family and they're all tremendously nice, and it feels like I have acquired an instant, shiny-new family. We're all going on a nature boat tour tomorrow, and then Jen and I are going up to the national park in Denali. I'm flying back into Toronto on Thursday morning. How do people feel about Einstein's on Thursday night?

Big News
You may recall that I had applied to Student Partnerships Worldwide which does community based health education in Africa, India and Nepal. I have been accepted to the eleven month South Africa Health education Program which starts in January. I have been given the position of Peer Educator and a hefty job description. The volunteer coordinator who I have been in contact with told me that the South Africa placement is almost exclusively filled by university graduates but they were willing to make an exception in my case becasue they had been so impressived by my letter and interview. But no pressure! Now the process of fundraising begins.Over the next 3 weeks Canada will host two important international events. This week the Out Games will take place in Montreal for gay and lesbian athletes and their fans. Toronto will host the 16th International AIDS Conference. Prime Minister Stephen Harper will not attend either event. The highest government official to attend the Out Games will be the minister of public works. That is pretty shameful. I'm sure that whatever else he is too busy doing is very important.
ANNOUNCEMENT: My parents are gone for ten days. Party at Box's house friday night.
