Fun With Blasphemy

So I was browsing through Google Video and came across a Passion of the Christ music video. I thought it would be funny to remix it to mock the sacrifice of Jesus Christ saviour of man who died for the sins of all. Orginally I was thinking of going with "Killing In The Name" or "What Is Love?" both of which are funny but also have some themes that make it almost serious (crosses vs. love). So I decided to do the classic "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" (whcih tracks really well). When I'm finished with it I'll upload it to google. This is course, blasphemous and tasteless. But part of living in a free society is I'm allowed to do this. Which is a roundabout way of bringing up the fact that this is fucking crazy. The right to Blasphemy is a basic part of free speech. It might offend people, but I don't see anyone torching embassies over Rolling Stone filling its cover with Kayne West decked out as Jesus.

I'm going to buy some Carlsberg tonight just to stick up for Denmark (which has the added benefit of having alcohol):

Moving topics, this is a really great article. It's about a clown called "The Great Zucchini" but it's so much more. Very funny and poignant.

Oh also, on Google Video I saw some goth girl's video which was standard boring faux-profound and depressing, but then it had a picture of the girl cutting her arm. Should I do anything?

The Groundhog: Nature's Noblest Creature

Happy Groundhog Day!

I just got an email from Western saying they're going to give me lots of money to go there, and that makes me happy. Also, if I decide I want to continue the following year with my Ph.D., they're going to give me $5000 for the summer so that I can study for the qualifying exams without having to work. Getting paid to study seems pretty awesome to me.

Our championship meet is next weekend, so we've been tapering, and doing lots of crazy fast, intense work in practice. But at night we train during the same time as aquafit, so while we're on the blocks getting ready to swim we get to listen to such timeless classics as Spice Girls' "Spice Up Your Life", Britney Spears' "Crazy", and Aqua's "Barbie Girl". But at least it's better than last semester, when we trained at the same time as the synchro team, who were doing a routine to "Cotton-Eyed Joe". You've never experienced true bliss until you've listened to that song, in the utter clarity that comes when music is played underwater, ceaselessly for half an hour.

Red Alert!

So this morning I wake up to a couple tunes and snooze it, but really get up when I hear Take Your Partner by the Hand. They haven't played it on AVR since I first heard it. So I crank up the radio, open the door to my sister's adjoined room and coerce her to listen. She starts yelling something that I can't hear. She yells again so I come in. A woman in her thrities is walking her calico cat on a leash in our back yard. What the fuck? I tell Ananda I'm going to go intimidate this cat lady (with a phone in my hand ready to dial 9-11) if she doesn't leave after Take Your Partner by the Hand. The crazy cat lady makes it out on time. She should thank Robbie Robertson and DJ Red Alert that she didn't get heckled for trespassing.

Don't Be Evil

So Google has now launched in China, but with certain... modifications. Here are some google image searches for the same word, the first on Google, the second on Google China.
Free Tibet Free Tibet

Free China Free China

Tiananmen Tiananmen

Falon Gong Falon Gong

Weirdness abounds

I found this to be extremely odd.

I have been working on essays and playing Black and White 2. Also, watching the new Battlestar Galactica, which is surprisingly good.
