Friday, July 09, 2004Holes and Moons
This guy is a true hero. He dug a hole, in his back yard, for the sake of digging a hole. Why isn't anyone else that cool.
Also, this is just fucking weird. Thursday, July 08, 2004Oi Vey
Hi guys.
Um, glad to see that the blog is active while my inbox is not. Please understand that I can't always check the blog, so email would be appreciated. A weeek ago I made a plan to return to Toronto on July 18 - July 20. I chose July 18 because it is when my mom is returning from Algonquin and can give me a lift. Ben may also be taking these same days off to return to TO along with me. So guys, we should have one night at my or Neil's house or something where we all catch up and play videogames, and another where we hit the bar (Jacob, Benji). I am glad to hear of the August plan to come up here. Thank you Shirin. I think the ride will once again be your greatest challenge. If Box can do it or something, that would work out. I hope I'm doing an amphitheatre program whilst you're here. Neil, don't quit at Wunderland. Wednesday, July 07, 2004Doc Ock: Inspiring Hentai Fan-Fiction since 1963
The camping thing sounds pretty cool. I don't know if I'm off work then though. And in my profession saying "Taking a few days off" is synonmous with "Ma'am, I'm so sorry. We found your son's body in the Don River". So I'll check with that.
I really liked Spiderman 2, even though the fusion thing made me visibly wince. Jameson was absolutely hilarious of course, but I really enjoyed The Importance of Being Earnest which my school did in grade12 (and incidently rejected me for the part of Algernon). I'm not much of a Spiderman fan, I never really read the comics or watched the show but you could tell that the director had. And the story arc so is brillantly set up with obviously Harry-As-Goblin (and I'm betting Lizard) in 3 and Venom in 4 (prediction may be contain spoilers). Speaking of predictions, you might want to disregard that. I'm bad at predictions and the universe seems to take a peverse delight in disproving them instantly. Today for example my "Kerry won't pick Edwards, it's too obvious" prediction was smashed to bits as was my "Mark Evans is the Half-Blood Prince" thing I posted about below. Mere days after I say that, JK Rowling says on her website that not only is Mark Evans not the Half-Blood Prince but that there is absolutely nothing special about him and everything I mentioned is pure coincedence. Tuesday, July 06, 2004The Tent
I have a big tent that can hold eight people. The tent is taken care of. Also, we could all just go and shop for tasty food items the day before we leave. It's what we did last time.
All's well in the universe once again.
I picked my iBook up from the shop this morning and to my surprise, the mouse suddenly didn't work. They had replaced the display, clutch and brace like they said they would but somehow forgot to reconnect the trackpad. Turns out the damn thing was just unplugged.
Holy crap, this feels nice. Having my iBook back. Also, on the subject of Doc Ock, I was disappointed he had no German accent. I was thinking it would be really cool if the fusing of the tentacles to his spinal cord gave him the accent. But alas, it was not to be. Spidey had his mask off way too much in this movie. From what I'm seeing in the commercials I'm looking forward to playing the new videogame, too - the last one kicked ass, even if I did have to buy a new video card to run it. Shirin, I'm not much of an outdoorsy person. Well, not much of a camping trip person. I like the outdoors in small (upper-bounded by "day-long") doses. Plus I have like two jobs that I'd have to book off, and a bunch of other obligations and stuff - I may already be going somewhere this summer so I don't want to push my luck too much. Thanks for the offer, though, and I may have things to give you for Ben (assuming you'll be seeing him, etc.). Finally, on the subject of Spider-Man, check out the best cartoon public service announcement EVER. It leaves a big "?!" over my head. What kind of sick kid was this "Skip"? Did this event contribute to Spidey's "with great power comes great responsibility" mantra even more than the death of Uncle Ben? One has to wonder. Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You
Leave you in the summertime, leave you when the summer comes along.
Yeah, so I'm goin' up to my cottage for a coupla weeks. Not for partys and fun either; I'm going up to paint! So basically, I won't be in town for the next coupla weeks, so if any of youse guys need to contact me, don't. On the plus side, I'll be making money offa this, so once I do get back, I'll be all the wealthier for it. So I can pay for movies and stuff. Speaking of movies, I saw Spider-Man 2 yesterday with my cousins. Good stuff, indeed! Doc Ock was great, both pre and post extra limbs (the tentacles were great, all the supporting characters were given good parts (except John Jameson, but I suspect we'll se more of him next time) and to top it off, there was a Bruce Campell cameo! (I also noted a couple of scenes in the movie with a distinct "Evil Dead" feel to them) Also, to Ben if you manage to catch this post: I now know what Toby Maguire's face doesn't change much to convey emotion: it looks really, really goofy. Okay, well that's about it. Have a great 2 weeks! P.S. I sure would be pleasantly surprised if someone had planned a party for me when I get back. Yup. That'd sure be something. ... are apparently becoming a big problem in Malaysia. Who knew?
The best comes at the end of the story. The department also reported that when female staff were taking calls they were inundated with men wanting to report emergencies of a different kind. Bahaha. Knock knock. Big Brother, are you there?
This is quite disturbing. This coming from me, whose paycheque comes partially/indirectly from the company in question. Ughh.
Sunday, July 04, 2004Wino? More Like Whine-O!
So apparently I'm a very dull drunk. I get drunk enough not to remember what happened the night before, and find out the spilling applesauce is the most exciting thing I did. What the Hell? Applesauce?!? If I was drunk enough to black out, I damn well better have been picking fights with homeless people or makin' out with 'em, not just sitting on a couch staring vacantly into space. Christ, next time I wanna get shitfaced, I'm going with liquor. I mean, beer's fine for relaxing with your buds, which I guess is what we were doing anyways, but if I black out I want to hear good stories, not that I spent the evening watching paint dry.
In any case, the shin-dig went pretty well from what I gather, although I had to be reminded that we picked up Benji. Also, we got to drink mead, which has always been a dream of ours. All in all, a good day. |
