Back in the Toronto

Well I got back to Toronto. One of the interesting things about travelling at night is that there really isn't the conversations. My seatmate just slept so I read Sir Thomas More's Utopia. That guy was ice-cold. When he was being led up to be excecuted he goes to the Executioner (paraphrazing): "Please sir, help me up. As for getting down, I can do that by myself". Utopia's actually pretty boring but after taking a little of the English History class it's nice to be able to find the subtle slaps at Henry VII (Did I mention that Thomas More was executed).

But yeah, tommorrow will be fun spent toiling away in Wychwood Park for our fundraiser. So theoretically, this is the time when the superhero could strike. Pray for me.

Always with the guns...

Here's my idea for a short film. It's a mockumentary about a guy who goes into inner city schools in rough neighbourhoods to teach seminars. His seminars are about safe and effective use of hand guns. He believes he is helping the youth greatly because they will eventually be using hand guns anyways, so it is best that they are using them properly and buying good guns.

Then, I would go and stop real people on the street and tell them about this man and his seminars and see how they reacted. Sort of like Talking to Americans - real reactions to lies.

I think it might have some potential as a video project for the second half of next year.

P.S. Has anyone seen Dave Foley's The Wrong Guy? I saw it last night at 11:30 on CBC. It was quite funny, especially the parts where Foley's sense of humour is most evident.

Hashasha (Hashashim?)

So, for those of you who aren't here, I'm hanging out with Sam and Neil and his "girlfriend" and they are playing Zombiefighting or something. I bought lots of champagne last night, cheap shit 6-dollar-a-bottle champagne. Also, a huge bottle of Amaretto. Made a wicked-ass amaretto sour, savoured it's flavourful awesomeness.
I actually have a lot less to say than I thought I did. You should all come party at my place. But later, when I have more money. Like next week. I'm running a touch low right now.

Damn unions

Today NHL Commissioner Gary Betman annouced that the league would be locking out the players starting at midnight tonite becuase the owners and players couldn't come up with a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. So for the time being there is no professional hockey in North America.

I started class this week. At the last minute I switched into a historey course Women in Britain and Europe. When I entered the lecture hall, which was already packed, all conversatiopn stopped and more than a hundred and fifty pairs of eye turned towards me. It made me very nervous.

I'm trying to find a part time job around town. Right now I met find a paid spot on the officer staff at the Peterborough air cadet sqaudron. That would be sweet. Or possibly at Trent Radio which normally sucks or is unlistened to, but my friend Tom and I have a proposal for a show called "Good Guys, Bad Ideas". We plan to do on the scene reporting from parties around town.

I'll be home for my birthday on October 8th my parents are going to Three Rivers, Quebec. Billy Talent and Metric are playing at The Docks that night, anyone interested?

So these three satisticians go duck hunting...

So school's gone pretty uneventful so far. There aren't any classes on monday, but that didn't mean I had no work. Cause I'm in a co-op I spent most of monday toiling in a kitchen producing chicken for several hundred people (well actually, 180 which is only 1.8 hundred and thus doesn't qualify as "several" which would require, say, 2 hundred). I felt like a bit of a veggy-traitor as I plucked those ice-cold chickens on to the pans. Actually I didn't feel that until later, when I was coating the cooked chickens with my onion/mushroom/sour cream sauce. The reason being that the ice chickens were so painful they were taking chunks out of my fingers (let's hope no one who ate it is reading it). As long as I'm hoping for poor readership, I hope the militant vegartarian wing isn't going to summarily execute me for treason (Yes, I saw the possibility of a pun using "chicken wings")

Tuesday was my economics day. My first prof (stats) is a hobbit. More specifically he is Merry from the Lord of the Rings movie. He shouldn't wear shoes to complete the illusion. He's funny in the sense an economics statistics prof can be funny ("I canceled the tutorials cause I found they were more demand-side than supply-side, if you know what I mean."). I don't remember if I mentioned Cathy on the blog, I think I did (The drunk halloween party anacedote...) but she's in that class too. The other econ class was uneventful aside from an vicious attack on Indiana Jones by the prof ("Indiana has to be the stupidest human being on the planet, find out why when we do game theory.").

Today is my history day (tuesdays/thursdays are economics, wednesdays/fridays are history). My first class was nice in that there's a bunch of people I know in it. The prof is an American who loves the word "Bloc" (e.g. "As Canadians you'd be part of the British Bloc I guess"). The second one is a tutorial where 30% is participation. So that should be fun (for me, not the other people in the class who'll have to listen to me). Next up is my Middle Ages course. My timetable says that it's in "STIB". I have no idea what that means. I don't know what it's an acronym for (if it is indeed an acronym) and there's no room number regardless. Should be fun.

Anyway, I'm going to be getting in on friday at around 9:00 and leaving on sunday night (with saturday night taken up by the fundraiser). Hope to see all of you there.

I'm still alive

I guess I haven't posted in a while. Whelp, I no longer have any videogames on my computer. I was made to delete them all. Even Morrowind. Even Medieval Total War. All of them. This is a shame, since I'm spending so much more time at home now. My last year of highschool is a breeze. I only go in three days a week. Two if I keep handing in things ahead of time. Each day I do have to go in, I get there early, sign in, hand in my work, get my new assignments and am allowed to leave, so I'm out of there by 10 a.m. most days. I basically get two weekends, since I don't go in Wednesday or Thursday.

Now that there is a big hole placed within my daily activities, I am scrabbling about for something to sustain my existence. Writing is a sweet solace. I hope its sweet enough to take up three times as many hours as its had to before. I imagine I'll also start playing small-scale warhammer games again, since I finally got my filthy paws on all three Gorkamorka books. Gork is better than Mork. I think everyone should just accept this.

Hey hey hey!

Well, I had my 11 hours of class Monday, which actually turns out to be a 9 hours of class day, because usually they don't use the tutorial. Seems good. Screenwriting should be good. Second year production will be fun, plus I have a prof who everyone says is excellent (Lawrence Green). Our first project is to make a 5 minute vidye documentary about a person (A portrait). Then the really crazy part is in the evening. From 7 - 10 pm, I have a course called "Physical Aspects of Theatre". In our first class we played the name game with a ball and actually played tag. For the rest of the three hour course we did physical warm up style drama exercises. Like funny walking and feeling the space behind you. I think overall I'm going to be happy with this highly "ornithological" course.

Today I did tutoring and played FFX. It takes a few dozen hours to get going, but once you do, maaaan. I've also been listening to my Tone Loc and Bill Cosby tapes constantly. If you thought Cosby was harsh on Seattle for being rainy (see: "Rain Tan") wait until you hear what he has to say about San Fransisco's hills! The West Coast will not be spared, unless Tone Loc has something to say about it.

Stellar first weekend

Obviously Amanda couldn't even kill herself properly if she had enough time to write a grammatically retarded poem.

I moved into my new house on friday. My queen size box spring wouldn't fit around the corner and up the stairs to my room so we had to saw through a couple of the wooden braces on the underside, that made it more flexible though maybe less solid. After I got my stuff set up we took off to the first party of the school year. I'll tell you more about my classes throughout this first week.

Next Blog Whaa

So I'm checking out Sam's "next blog thing" and I stumble across this one. It seems to be full of angsty teenage girl poetry which contains lines like:
The blood it flowsOut of my wrist down to my elbowsYou feel no painBut
yet you have killed my brain

My first reaction was that although maybe people right stuff like this all the time, maybe I should comment and tell her she needs help.

But because I'm a bad person my second reaction was that I should tell her she should put some spacing in so the words are on different lines.

And because I'm a really bad person my third reaction was thinking of this something positive.

So there's this girl I know named Erica. We're pretty good friends and have lots of the same interests. But here's the thing, we're just friends but everybody thinks we're dating. Well not everybody, most people in the world actually don't know either of us. But at least 3 people have asked me if we're going out. The other day after I got my membership card at the video store the guy asked her if it was for both of us. So I guess now random strangers think that not only are we going out but that we live together. Geez.

Sam, it is clearly unaceptable that you have not read Phillip Pullman. Go over to my house and my mom will lend you The Golden Compass.

UPDATE: Well I spread the link around and then one of my friends posted some comments. C'est la vie I guess.

Who Needs Titles When We Got Feathers?

So I went downtown today to be an extra in a short film, but it turned out I wasn't needed, so i just ended up wandering aimlessly, which is still a pretty good way to spend a day, all things considered. I stopped in at Black Market, and after my traditional "gimme a job" speil to the manager, began checking out the leather sale, where I found the perfect leather jacket for the Halloween costume I have planned for this year, and a matching pair of leather pants. ($30.00, marked down from $99.99) Unfortunately, my funds are a bit short for this type of extravagant spending, and Black Market can't put things on hold, so hopefully that jacket/pants combo will still be there when I have moneys.

Anyways, because I just can't stand not spending money, I went to the Silver Snail and bought myself the first issue of Longshot. Now I have to collect all 6 issues. It's just not fair.

Also, has anyone ever just kept on clicking that "next blog" button in the top corner of the screen? There's some bizarre-ass blogs out there, I'm telling you! (granted, there are some pretty mundane-ass blogs, too, but they're less fun to talk about) Anyhoo, whilst I was doing this, I found a link to This site. I watched the emo movie, which was pretty funny. Not laugh out loud high-larious, mind you, but pretty funny.

Finally, I have no idea who Phillip Pullman is, so your outrageous claims that I stole my ideas from him to attract women are completely false.
